God’s eternal plans & purposes as outlined in Scripture cannot be fulfilled without Israel and the Jewish people. There remains a mysterious and monumental work that God can and will do through Israel and the Jewish People. What happens in the physical land of Israel is a reflection of the spiritual reality of the world and Israel is the key to God blessing all the nations of the earth. Israel is the evidence of an everlasting and enduring Spirit that continues to thrive despite a faction of the world that aims at her destruction and Israel is in fact the evidence of God’s Miracles and God’s Mystery.
The Mystery of Israel is central to a believer’s faith journey. If you are a follower of Yeshua (Jesus), you are to know about your Messiah’s Jewish Identity. Jesus was born a Jew, to a Jewish family. He was raised as a Jewish boy. He lived on this earth as a Jewish man in a Jewish culture. He ministered & taught as a Jewish Rabbi and He died as a Jewish man. All of the prophets & apostles were Jewish men. The Bible that we read is a Jewish book written by Jewish people. Paul, one of the greatest contributors to the New Testament, was a Jew. Most importantly, the Bible tells us that Yeshua will return as the LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH (where the word Jew comes from) and Jerusalem will be His dwelling place. To know Jesus means to know His Jewish identity and to know the land and people of Israel to which He is returning. To miss the Jewishness of Jesus is to miss the essence of God. Sadly, the Gentile Church has moved far away from the Hebraic roots & Jewishness of its faith and in many instances so far away that the Jewish roots of the faith are unrecognisable.
Many in the Church are unaware and uniformed about God’s eternal plans and purposes for the nation of Israel. According to the Scriptures, as we move closer to history’s final chapter, Israel will be at the very center of it. God’s dealing with Israel in the Last Days will be the final revelation of Himself. Zechariah 12 tells us that when all nations come against Israel, God Himself will save Israel for the sake of His Holy name.
According to the Hebrew Prophets and the New Covenant, God’s Covenant with Israel is irrevocable, unconditional and everlasting. God’s covenant with Israel has not been superseded by Gentile believers who come to believe in Yeshua (Jesus). As believers in Yeshua we are to strictly disagree with any doctrine of Supersessionism, Replacement Theology, Fulfillment Theology or Covenant Theology. The Church has not replaced Israel. If your theology of Israel divests them of their national, ethnic or territorial identity, their destiny as the “chief of the nations” (Jeremiah 31) or the Covenant Promises made to them by the God of Israel, you have embraced Replacement Theology or a faction of it. This requires repentance and a commitment to change.
God’s covenant with Israel still stands, no matter what. It is our duty and privilege as followers of Yeshua, to understand God’s purposes for Israel and to have a life involved in blessing and protecting Israel and the Jewish people. The Jewish people rose from ashes and utter destruction, from a terrible pain that can never be forgotten. Sadly history repeats itself, as we are witnessing again during these tumultuous times. Our Jewish brothers & sisters continue to need our prayers, love and support.
The Gentile Church also has a key role to play in Israel’s final redemption and our Jewish brothers and sisters have a key role to play in bringing the nations to fullness in Mashiach. There’s a reciprocal relationship intended between Israel and the Nations, as in the “One New Man” described in the book of Ephesians. It is a reconciliation between Jew & non-Jew and it is only found in the Mystery of Israel & Maschiach.
